Drawing Houses in Fireworks

Sorry Picture Not Found

Adobe CS3 Fireworks has some excellent drawing tools available for use in producing Vector Art.

As a beginner's exercise, I have my students draw a basic house picture, just like they would as a young child in Primary School.

Similar pictures can be made using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator. However Fireworks is much less complicated and easy to use for beginning students, with some amazing special effects paint brushes and fills.

The following Wondershare slideshow showcases the efforts of my Year 7 and Year 8 multimedia students. (Unfortunately there wasn't enough room to put everyone's houses into this Slide Show).

Note that we can click on the bottom of the slideshow on the "Manual Play" option at any time. We can then advance through the photos one by one at our own pace. This allows us to stop for longer on the photos that we really like, and quickly bypass the ones that we are not interested in.

(Push the Play button arrow below if the slideshow is not already running).

The following PDF document gives tips for drawing various parts of a typical House drawing in Fireworks.

If you would like to have your own full size copy of this PDF, then simply click the save disk icon button on the PDF viewer, and you should be able to save it to your own hard disk.

Alternatively, you can view or save the full size PDF by clicking the link below:

In their next project the students will make Aliens in Space pictures. They will then move onto making pictures using Bezier Curves.

More on these in some future blog posts.

Enjoy,
Big Passy Wasabi
